Natural remedies to regulate your period


It’s happening… or is it? Are you waiting on your cycle again? Perhaps you are one of the many women who experience irregular and untimely periods. As frustrating as they can be (spotting or staining of clothes, schedule conflicts and more), there are some rumored remedies that have been shared by women of all ages and backgrounds that provide relief.

Irregular period is medically known as oligomenorrhea, which is a common issue in women. While you can certainly look into the causes of your irregular cycle, ranging from eating disorders, weight loss or gain, anemia, menopause, thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalance, liver disease, tuberculosis, miscarriage, and other health conditions, we wanted to provide remedies that are known to assist with these lifestyle changes and affects.

Papaya (before it has ripened)
Green, unripe papaya is considered useful in regulating menstrual flow as it helps contract muscle fibers in the uterus. You can drink the juice of such between your periods (not during).



Turmeric (the golden remedy)
Turmeric is considered to be one of the most beneficial herbs for help in multiple issues from whitening teeth to regulating hormones – which helps with menstruation. It boasts anti-inflammatory properties helps with menstrual cramping. One way to consider taking this is to add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric with milk or honey. Enjoy this daily for several months until you see results.

 


Aloe Vera
Not just for sunburn, aloe vera has been known to treat menstrual irregularities naturally as it regulates your hormones. Remove fresh aloe vera gel from an aloe leaf, add one teaspoon of honey and consume it daily first thing in the morning.

 


Ginger
Snag some ginger root from your local grocer. Enough to boil 1 tbsp of fresh at least 3x per day. Boil 1 tbsp. for 5 minutes. Add sugar to taste and drink the mixture three times a day after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ginger is highly recommended for regulating menstrual cycles.
