General Questions

Q. How do Apele Undies work?

We have created an underwear that has a built-in, ultra thin pantyliner, which gives you a little extra protection for all the unexpected occurrences that happen to our bodies, which are often, out of our control. You are likely thinking, why would I need them? It is to help you prepare for the unexpected.  Our undies take on the little burdens, allowing you to focus on the present. You can wear them like everyday underwear and know it has a little more protection in the gusset area for any mishap.

If you are waiting for your first period, this is the perfect solution as you can wear our sporty, performance underwear daily and be worry free. You can bleed directly onto the gusset and keep it a secret until you get home because our built-in pantyliner will protect and absorb.

Q. Can I wear Apele undies daily?

Certainly!  They have a seamless design so no pantylines - which make them ideal for everything from professional to fitness wear.  You can also wear them when you are feeling anxious about your body or uncertain about untimely periods, slight incontinence or if you are putting your body in a high stress situation. Our underwear will serve to protect and stabilize your circumstances. Many of our customers end up wearing them daily because they are so comfortable and secure.

Each undie weighs less than 3 ounces so it is light-weight, seamless and perfectly designed for the active girl or woman. No wedgies, no chafing and no panty lines.

Q. Can I wear my Apele undies over and over again?

Yes, our undies are wash and wear.  We washed our Apele undies over 100x and they still hold their shape and functionality. They get softer with each wash and wear and increasingly comfortable, as the underwear molds to your body.

Q. How do I care for my Apele undies?

Soak in soap water for 2-5 minutes and throw in with the rest of your laundry. Dry on low heat or hang dry (30-50 minutes depending upon climate). Quick-dry fabric will have you ready to wear them again soon. Having a few pairs is ideal for this reason.

Many of us hang dry our undies which saves time and energy on laundry.

Q. Do I need to buy panty-liners?

No! That’s the beauty of Apele undies. Our undies replace your pantyliners so you can use them for all mishaps when you otherwise would wear pantyliners or a regular size tampon. Our product keeps you feeling fresh without chafing, dryness and irritation to the skin because our fabric is made with a soft power mesh so you are protected. You can save money as well and help with the environment.

Q. How much does the Apele pantyliner section absorb?

Our pantyliner section absorbs light secretion, discharge, sweat, ever so slight incontinence (laughing, jumping, coughing and sneezing post-baby) and very light bleeding (beginning and ending of your period, spotting, untimely first gush). You know your body best, so treat our undies the way you would your pantyliner.

Q. How often do I need to change my Apele undies?
As often as you might change your pantyliner. Once soggy, wash it out and throw on a new pair. We have some great blogs on how often you need to change period underwear. For heavier days of bleeding, we would recommend that you use check out our heavy day undies, which will be hitting the market May 2019.

Q. Can I wear Apele undies with a tampon or menstrual cup?

Absolutely! Many of our customers use a primary product and then wear Apele panties as a second and extra layer of protection. Thus the name, Apele- AH, Peel.. as in the outer skin of a fruit which protects the most sacred inside. Our undies seek to operate like that skin and protect against further leaks that tampons and cups often do not fully absorb or catch. We do not guarantee it to be leak proof as everyone has a different flow. Our undies catch what a pantyliner reasonably absorbs.

Q. Can I wear Apele undies with a pad?

We have a special technology called a wing pocket. If you choose to add a pad, you attach your pad with wings onto the core layer and fold the wings behind the flap design so you don’t see the wings or feel them against your skin. The pad secures tightly to the core layer so as you move so your pad will remain stable. Our undies serve to save embarrassment for younger girls wearing pads. No one can visibly see the wings with our undies when in locker room environments or similar.

Q. How does the built in pantyliner feel and work?

Our pantyliner construction has 2 layers of protection overall:  Our Mesh Liner and Leak Resistant Layer, which can hold up to 1 teaspoon or 1 small tampon equivalent over a reasonable time where you would wear a pantyliner of fluids. It also protects against leaks, as your pantyliner would expect to function. Our 3rd layer is an exterior performance fabric, which is lightweight, wicks sweat, is breathable and soft to the touch! You will forget you have them on.

Q. Who can wear Apele undies?

Every female who experiences mishaps: periods, discharge, light incontinence, excessive sweating or sometimes backside bloopers.

Our product was designed primarily for girls who are expecting their periods and girls and women, who experience every day happenings, like discharge and desire overall freshness. You can wear our product daily until you get your period and wear it for your light days.

Q. How quickly do I need to change my underwear during my period?

It depends on your own personal cycle, mishap and how fresh you like to maintain your private area. Don’t worry, there is no standard as every BODY is different. If you have an extremely light day of just spotting while waiting for your first flow of blood, you can wear them that entire day. Once you have that first flow of about one tampon worth, you’ll want to rinse and wash them and exchange them for another pair.  Oftentimes, young girls will wear them the days leading up to their period and the last day of their cycle when they bleed just a little here and there.

Q. What if I have additional questions about my Apele undies, how do I contact you?

Email us at apele4u@gmail.com and we will respond within the day.

First Period. We’ve Got Your First Round Of Questions Covered?

Having your first period soon and got tons of questions?

It’s only natural! Here we share some of the most common questions you are likely wondering about and some answers that seek to give you confidence during this important and beautiful transition period into becoming a woman!

What age do girls usually their first periods?

Most girls get their first period when they're around 12. But getting it any time between age 10 and 15 is OK. Every girl's body has its own schedule.

What are the signs that my first period is coming?

The signs are a little different for everyone, and as you get older, you'll get really good at reading your body.  Before you get your first period, you may be noticing other changes in your body: Recent studies show that most girls start developing breast buds sometime between age 9 and 10. Some things to look for also are sore breasts, back pain, cranky moods, constipation, a bloated belly and possibly even breakouts on your skin.  You likely will not experience all of these symptoms before your first period or the ones that will follow, but you might experience some.

Will my first period be painful?

While bleeding itself isn’t painful, sometimes there are cramps that you can feel as your muscles are contracting down below.  It is important to rest when you can, drink plenty of water and to take it easy physically to help ease some of the discomfort.  You can also talk to your parent or guardian about over-the-counter pain relievers, herbal tea or other remedies like placing a hot water bottle on your belly.  If you feel sharp pains, different from cramping you definitely want to tell an adult.

How much will I bleed during my first period?

Most young women's periods last about two to six days. That includes one or two days of heavy flow at the beginning (meaning you're changing your pad or tampon every hour or two), followed by a couple of lighter flow days. How much you bleed your very first period could be very unique as it is a new experience.  You could have just a little spotting at first or experience a large flow of blood.  That is exactly why we create Apele!  Just for moments like this when you want o be protected no matter how or when it shows up! Everything you need is in our First Period Kit!

What Is "Spotting" and why does it happen?

Spotting means a light blood flow in between your periods. Not everyone gets it, and while it's not harmful, it might be annoying. If you're a spotter, you might want to get into the habit of wearing our Apele panties every day since they are perfect for catching any surprise leaks!

Should I use tampons or pads with my period panties?

A lot of young women prefer pads before tampons because they're less of a process and also possibly more comfortable.  Tampons are more discreet and you can swim with them, but it can take some practice to learn how to insert them. Also, using tampons comes with a risk of toxic shock syndrome if not removed or replaced often, so knowing more about each product is best before choosing what’s right for you.  The good news is that Apele panties will act as a secondary layer of protection beyond the pad or tampon! SO, no matter what you decide, a period panty is always a good bet for security and confidence from leaking or stains!
