Alternative to Dairy Products

Dairy products are a staple of many typical diets. Cheese, yogurt, milk, and butter are all made possible by the use of animals like cows and goats. Yet many people either possess intolerance or an allergy to many dairy products or wish to avoid them for personal reasons. The good thing is that there are a myriad of dairy alternative options out there that you can still enjoy. Read on for some great substitutes for common dairy products.

Almond/ Nut Milk

You don’t have to give up your morning bowl of cereal or oatmeal completely! Almond milk is both delicious and healthy, making it perfect as a milk substitute. The flavor is often described as both creamy and nutty and of course utterly satisfying! Almond milk is the perfect additive to your daily iced coffee or morning fruit smoothie. While the classic almond milk never gets boring, you can find various flavors like vanilla and chocolate (perfect if you’ll miss chocolate milk) as well as sugar-free options. You definitely aren’t limited by just almond milk either! Tons of other nut milks exist such as those made from coconuts and cashews, both with different flavors and sugar contents available. There are many brands on the market to select from, so try a few out before discovering your go-to.

Nut Butters and Vegetable Oils

If you’re wondering what to spread on your slice of bread now, look no further! Nut butters like almond butter or coconut butter provide a perfect dash of flavor and satisfaction when used as butter alternatives. Not to mention they pack an extra kick of protein which is absolutely necessary for everyone to include in a diet. As for cooking, you can switch out butter and use various vegetable oils like avocado oil to grease the pan instead, which will also save you some calories. You can also use avocado oil with a dash of sea salt to dip your slice of bread in too, giving you so many awesome and yummy options to choose from.

Dairy-Free Ice Cream

Your favorite ice cream remains just as creamy when made with dairy alternatives. Coconut milk, almond milk, and cashew milk can all be substituted for milk in any ice cream recipe for a rich, creamy, and sweet flavor. You can also opt for an ice cream sorbet made entirely from frozen fruits and the sweetener of your choice-- no dairy added!

You’ll be satisfied and surprised at what you can find at your local grocery store. You can still indulge in the foods you love by making a few simple switches. It’s easy to enjoy a dairy free life with so many amazing alternatives out on the market!
