Girl Chat on Being an Entrepreneur

If you’re anything like us, you have either a side hustle or a full-time passion that you are constantly perfecting and promoting.

Life as an entrepreneur is wonderful and equally challenging.  It requires a ton of determination, energy, resilience and confidence.

There are many benefits to owning your own business or pursuing your personal passions to help the world, help your family or all of the above.

We reached out to gain insight on what you all find the most rewarding aspects of entrepreneurship, while also sharing some of the hardships that accompany it.

Because, anything worth having, isn’t effortless.

PROS

  1. Do things your way. When you’re the boss, you answer to YOU.

  1. Time and location freedom. Depending on whether you are a brick and mortar location or a freelancer working remotely, you could potentially create your own hours and work where (and how often) you choose.

  1. Working with whom you choose as clientele. Being able to essentially serve who you prefer and “fire” bad clients or customers who aren’t a “fit” is pretty helpful when wanting to stay passionate about your chosen profession or hobby.

  1. Constantly learning new things you love!  One of the greatest benefits of having your own hustle is building it based on your own unique personal and professional preferences!

It's all on you

No limits to what you can do

CHALLENGES (because these aren’t necessarily negative)

  1. It’s all on you. Your success and output reflects your input! What you put in via time, talents and training.

  1. Adjusting to irregular paychecks. You may be used to a set amount monthly or twice per month.  Nothing a little budgeting can’t help.

  1. You find your own clients so marketing has to be considered. Especially, if you are a one woman show.  You can imagine that there will be some promoting of your brand and a lot of word-of-mouth referrals that must take place to get your new endeavor well-known and highly-regarded.

  1. Taxes and Insurance. These are now your responsibility but easy to monitor and manage with tons of free apps out there now that help with itemizing, organizing and reporting com tax time.

Do you have any entrepreneurial ideas you’ve started or would like to begin?  We can attest to the many amazing opportunities for growth and confidence that having a business has awarded us here at Apele.  We encourage you to not silent that side of you – even if you start with just a side hustle!
