Is there a Timeline for When Incontinence may Occur?

Plenty of expos and events have taken place these last few years and if there is one thing we are certain of, it is that slight incontinence (both urinary and fecal) happen to women of all ages and all walks of life.  There are many myths surrounding incontinence. Fortunately, there are many of you are open to discussing and venture onto our webpage or up to our vendor tables with no shame - just a desire for solutions!

We have heard it all.  There is that maybe 3% of women who walk by and comment, ‘I’m not old enough for those yet”and scurry away somewhat nervously. We get it.  It’s still taboo.

But only for some!  As MOST women nowadays have no issue whatsoever approaching us, asking questions and sharing some of the most heart-warming and intimate details of their pelvic health and hiccups. We hear from women in their 20s who can’t jump without urinating after their first child. We hear from women who only tinkle on the run due to the lengthy duration of pelvic pressure. We get testimonials of women post-chemo who are on the mend and manage slight incontinence after hysterectomies or ovarian cancer treatment.  You name it. Incontinence doesn’t discriminate.

In fact, slight incontinence is the most common theme behind the motivation to use Apele undies based on the feedback we receive in person and online.  And the age varies as much as the flow does. That said, we do want to share how Apele can help you no matter where you’re at on the spectrum of spills.

Recent studies have reported that 25 percent of young women, 44 to 57 percent of middle-age and post-menopausal women, and 75 percent of elderly women in nursing homes experience some degree of involuntary urine loss!  It happens across the board and for a myriad of reasons. Question is, what can you do to manage your respective experience(s)?

  1.  First and foremost, talk to the doc.  This will do one of to things. First, you’re getting professional guidance on such a topic and potential resources to assist with managing incontinence.  Second, you will learn just how common it is - and what you think is significant may be small potatoes in the eyes of your physician. It isn’t to say they’ll dismiss your discomfort by any means, but they can certainly shed light on just how often they hear it and how simple it can be to treat or manage.
  2. There are tons of group that actively and openly discuss all things pelvic health and guess what topic surfaces often?  You guessed it! Incontinence issues and concerns. Find a support group that casually and comically handles these challenges in stride and with pride. Try joining Facebook pages and groups like ours or even pelvic health podcasts where professionals share these conversations (and their wisdom) weekly!
  3. Use products that complement your personal absorbency needs. Our wash and wear underwear weigh less than 1 ounce and are ideal for everyday underwear. We added a built in pantyliner, which is an ultra-soft, ultra-thin powermesh, which protects against small annoyances. It is breathable, quick-drying and pulls moisture away from you. Our underwear is seamless and is no show under your leggings and skirts alike. So now you can opt out of thick options that show panty lines and instead feel confident in everyday attire from leggings to slacks.  Everyday underwear with extra protection. We do not use cotton in our designs because it holds moisture and takes a long time to dry.

No matter how often or sporadically your leaks happen, no matter your age or how you delivered children if at all, no matter your weight, background, ethnicity and medical diagnoses, there are solutions for you and Apele strives to be at the very least a company you can count on for additional, everyday coverage.  Keeping you confident and dry!
